A set of bagpipes believed to have been created for King Louis XIV of France in the late 17th century are on display in Northumberland, England, in time for International Bagpipe Day.
International Bagpipe Day is celebrated on March 10 of each year, this year on Sunday. "The musette is winded by means of bellows operated under the player’s right arm." There are over 130 different kinds of bagpipe played worldwide. Maureen Mackey is managing editor of lifestyle for Fox News Digital.
Known as a musette de cour, the set of bagpipes was discovered after a collector spotted a painting of the king in the Palace of Versailles with a similar set of pipes pictured next to him.
