The stages are set for the 2024 edition of Rotaryfest in Sault Ste Marie, an event organizers call the biggest summer festival in the north.
And, for the first time, there are three performance stages this year, offering a buffet of free music and artists for people in and around Sault Ste. Marie to enjoy.
The OLG sponsors one stage where there will be three days of free music, featuring many local acts, including an Abba cover group, as well as a headliner show from out-of-town on Saturday night called Sound of Sting - A Sensational Tribute to Sting & The Police.
A second music stage will see various bands and performers from throughout the Algoma region performing.
New this year is the addition of a third stage that is dedicated to local EDM, or electronic dance music, with three acts set for Friday night.
"It's got to be the biggest summer festival in the North, and the parade on Saturday will be the 101st, so it's got plenty of history and tradition behind it." said Nilah Moss, the Rotary Fest events organizer.
Rotaryfest also offers the always popular "play zone" for kids, running Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and offering various activities from face painting to pony rides and bracelet-making to name a few. There will also be an inflatable park.
Buskers, including jugglers, magicians, and a fire and light performance will be sprinkled into the entertainment throughout the three day event.
Food vendors always make up a big part of the attraction, including a Rib Fest, and Moss says more than two dozen others will be set up this year to keep people fed and hydrated.
"We also have our Saturday Makers Market, which is staged for us as part of Rotaryfest." said Moss.
"That's a popular venue and will see about 60 artists and makers showing off their creations." she said.
Rotaryfest runs from Thursday July 18 through Saturday July 20 at Clergue Park in Sault Ste. Marie.
