Speaking to mediapersons in Mandya on April 22 (Tuesday), Mr. Siddaramaiah said, “I have directed that action be taken as per the law — whoever they may be. Both the parties involved in the incident have filed complaints, and due legal process will be followed.”
IAF officer Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose was involved in a road rage incident on Monday, in Bengaluru, with Vikas Kumar, a call centre employee.
The former uploaded a video claiming that he was assaulted unprovoked in Bengaluru and the video went viral triggering a language debate. But CCTV footage examined by the police indicated there were contradictions in the claims of the Wing Commander. While Vikas Kumar was arrested by the police based on the complaint of the officer’s wife, the police registered an FIR for attempt to murder against the Wing Commander based on the Vikas Kumar’s complaint.
Responding to a separate question related to language concerns that have surfaced in public discussions following the incident, Mr. Siddaramaiah reiterated the State government’s position and said the imposition of Hindi will not be allowed. “We will not allow the imposition of Hindi. We will oppose it. That is ours, and the State government’s stance,” he said.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said the State government didinot support the three-language formula and only Kannada and English was being taught in educational institutions..
