The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary have arrested Ibrahim Hussein, a 19-year-old who was wanted in connection to murder.
The RNC said in a social media post just after noon NT that Hussein had been arrested and is in police custody.
Police have been looking for the teen since Tuesday night in connection to what police called a targeted shooting in the east end of St. John's. Police had said Hussein was armed and dangerous.
Police found a 33-year-old man outside of a Watson Street home with serious injuries "consistent with gunshot wounds." The man was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.
"Further details will be released as they become available," said the RNC statement.
The RNC had requested a warrant for Hussein's arrest on a number of charges, including first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm and breach of a release order.
Initially, the police said they didn't believe there was a threat to public safety, but that shifted on Wednesday when they described Hussein as "armed and dangerous," advising the public not to approach him and report any sightings.
