RJD-led Opposition boycotts Bihar Assembly monsoon session over Centre's Agnipath scheme
India Today
The RJD-led Opposition has boycotted the Bihar Assembly’s monsoon session over the Agnipath scheme.
The RJD-led Opposition has decided to boycott the Bihar Assembly’s monsoon session over the Centre’s new short-term recruitment scheme for the defence forces, Agnipath.
The Bihar Legislative Assembly has been witnessing stormy scenes over Agnipath for the last three days. Both, inside and outside the House, RJD and Congress leaders have been vehemently demanding the rollback of Agnipath.
Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, on Tuesday alleged that the government was running away from the discussion on the Agnipath scheme and the Opposition was not being given a chance to speak.
On Tuesday, the RJD MLAs created a ruckus inside the House regarding the Agnipath scheme. The Opposition alleged that as the Agnipath scheme was related to the country and students, they demanded that the issue should be discussed in the house, but the government rejected it.

“If we are not allowed to speak in the House, then what is the point of going there? If everything has already been decided in the government, then what is our work in the house? We have decided that all MLAs of opposition parties will boycott the House and we will stage a sit-in in front of Karpoori Thakur's statue in the Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday,” Yadav said.
While the Opposition parties have created trouble for the BJP in the Bihar Assembly on the Agnipath issue, the Janata Dal (United) has also attacked the BJP on this issue.
