Hours after a video of a rice-salt meal at a primary school in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya surfaced on social media, the district magistrate issued suspension orders for the school principal and sent a notice to the village head.
In the viral video from the school, children can be seen eating boiled rice and salt as a part of the midday meal programme. The video gives a tour of the school. The videographer also shows the menu for the day and compares it with reality. Taking cognizance of the matter, Ayodhya District Magistrate Nitish Kumar issued suspension orders for the principal of Dihwa Pandey's primary school in the Chaurebazar area of Ayodhya, Ekta Yadav, and sent a notice to the village head.

As the school is close to a village, several students collect their lunch and go home during the lunch break. Hence, some parents got to know about the rice-salt situation. Several parents protested against the school. Officials from the education department have been asked to investigate the whole matter and conduct surprise inspections from time to time.
