
Revamp of railway stations in Manapparai, Pudukottai is nearing completion

The ongoing modernisation work being executed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at Manapparai railway station in Tiruchi district has reached the final stage of completion.
A host of works were taken up under the ABSS to give a facelift to the station by creating new facilities aimed at benefiting the travelling public. The project is being executed by the Gati Shakti Unit of the Madurai Railway Division.
Provision of lifts, covered parking lot, construction of a compound wall, waiting hall, entrance arch, facade, canopy, and integrated passenger information system are among the slew of work taken up at the station at a total cost of ₹5.08 crore. Manapparai has been categorised as a NSG 5 (Non-suburban) station and comes in the Tiruchi-Dindigul broad gauge section.
Railway sources said provision of lifts on Platform Nos. 1 and 2 and integrated passenger information system at the station have been completed. Work on establishing separate covered car and bike parking lots and construction of the compound wall were over.
The car parking lot can accommodate 13 cars while the bike parking lot can accommodate about 250 two-wheelers. The authorities plan to complete the roadwork, waiting hall, entrance arch, and pathway-cum-drainage work by this month. The entire project at Manapparai station is expected to be over by May, the sources said.
The Gati Shakti Unit is also executing the modernisation work at the Pudukottai railway station at a cost of ₹9.08 crore. Pudukottai is catgeorised as a NSG 5 (non-suburban) station and falls in the Tiruchi-Rameswaram broad gauge section.
Platform surfacing, provision of lifts, construction of fencing wall, separate parking lots for cars and motorcycles, entrance arch, platform shelter, new station building and facade, circulating area and integrated passenger information system are among the host of works taken up under the ABSS at Pudukottai station.
