Resigned as Prasar Bharati CEO due to differences with Modi's governance, says TMC's Rajya Sabha nominee

Reacting to his nomination to the Rajya Sabha by the Trinamool Congress, former bureaucrat Jawhar Sircar said he would carry on his battle against the Narendra Modi-led government.
The Trinamool Congress nominated Jawhar Sircar, the former Prasar Bharati CEO, as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by former member Dinesh Trivedi. Taking to social media, Sircar stated that he has accepted the nomination and would carry on his battle against the Narendra Modi-led government."I have accepted the nomination, as I would be able to carry on my battle against demonic suppression of human rights, communalism and Modi’s disastrous handling of administrative issues like Corona, inflation, nation’s economy and joblessness," wrote Sircar, a former IAS officer who is known to be a vocal critic of the Modi government.Jawhar Sircar also stated that he had decided to resign from his post in 2016 due to his differences with PM Modi's governance. He had stepped down before his term ended."I resigned as CEO of Prasar Bharati in November 2016 before my fixed term of 5 years ended, as I could not carry on with PM Modi’s Hindutva, his autocratic style of functioning and the economic mess he was creating," he said in a Facebook post.
