As the cases of monkeypox continue to surge, Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla has said that research is underway to find a vaccine for the disease.
As the cases of monkeypox continue to surge, Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO Adar Poonawalla on Tuesday said that research is underway to find a vaccine for the disease, and also to find out whether there's a need for it.
Adar Poonawalla made these remarks after his meeting with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
"My meeting went well like always. All preparations for the vaccine are being done; I briefed the minister on this. We are researching on the vaccine for Monkeypox and if there's a need for it," Adar Poonawalla said as per a report by news agency ANI.
On Tuesday, another Nigerian man living in Delhi tested positive for monkeypox, official sources told India Today. This is the third case of monkeypox reported in the national capital and ninth in the country.
Health Minister Mansukh Madaviya said a national task force has been set up to monitor the development of diagnostics and vaccines.
