Republic Day: Delhi Police intensifies anti-terror measures, to use anti-drone tech

Delhi Police intensified anti-terror measures after receiving intel inputs of a possible terror attack ahead of Republic Day, Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana informs.
Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, the Delhi Police has intensified anti-terror measures in the national capital. Police Commissioner, Rakesh Asthana shared that anti-terror monitoring has been intensified after receiving intel inputs of a possible terror attack.
In an address to the media, Asthana said, “Delhi is always under terror threat, so we have to take extra caution. This year as well we are under alert. Security agencies is coordinating with Delhi Police to follow all anti-terror measures.”
The Commissioner said that for the past two months, the Delhi Police have been taking intensified anti-terror measures in the national capital. He listed the anti-terror measures taken under 26 parameters which include, intensified vehicle checking, checking of lodges, and tenant, servant, labourer verification.
Also, a total of 27,723 personnel have been deployed including, 71 DCPs, 213 ACPs, 753 Inspectors, and Delhi Police Commanders. At least 65 companies of CAPF will coordinate with these forces.

Meanwhile, a counter rogue drone technology is being used to secure the air space. Apart from Delhi Police, other agencies are also coordinating to secure airspace. All agencies in and around Central Vista are working in tandem with the Delhi Police, Asthana told reporters.
Meetings were held with inter-state ATS chiefs, CID chiefs and DGPs. Additionally, social media monitoring cell has been proactive in spreading awareness and to keep a check on misinformation campaigns.
