Rep. James Comer Becomes Latest Republican To Declare Complete Fealty To Trump

The Kentucky Republican declared "what we've got to do is what President Trump wants" during an interview on Newsmax Wednesday.
Somewhere along the line, certain members of the GOP decided that President John F. Kennedy’s edict “Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country” should apply to Donald Trump.
Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) declared his fealty to Trump during an interview Wednesday on Newsmax about the budget reconciliation bill recently adopted by the GOP-led Senate that would hide $4 trillion in deficits using accounting gimmicks.
Many House Republicans hate the bill, which Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) told HuffPost was “more of the same swamp stuff that we’ve been dealing with for years.”
Since the GOP only has a seven-vote majority, too many defections by debt-hawk conservatives put the bill at risk of not passing and, thus, hurting Trump’s plan to extend tax cuts to the wealthy.
Of course, Comer, who led a long-fruitless investigation into former President Joe Biden’s alleged criminal activities, supports the reconciliation bill’s passage, and he didn’t understand why his fellow Republican members of Congress were being so picky about parts of the bill and “not seeing the forest for the trees.”
