Chairperson of Reliance Jio Akash Ambani, elder son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, has made it to the TIME100 NEXT, a list of rising stars cutting across industries. Akash Ambani is the only Indian to feature in the coveted list this year.
Calling the junior Ambani 'the rising star' of the business world, TIME magazine said Akash Ambani made investment deals worth billions of dollars with Google and Facebook and is currently playing a pivotal role in mapping Jio's internet ecosystem. The magazine also gave credit to Akash Ambani for bringing investment to India even when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country.
The magazine went on to explain how, at the age of 22, Akash Ambani was inducted into the board of Reliance Jio and how his father Mukesh Ambani handed him the mantle of India's largest telecom company in June this year.
Akash Ambani is currently chalking out a plan to launch the 5G service in India before Diwali. Reliance Jio plans to launch 5G service in four Metro cities--Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai--by Diwali. Reliance Jio has bought the 700MHz spectrum band, which can offer the fastest and best 5G service.
Amrapali Gan, CEO of Onlyfans--a subscription-based social platform--has also been included in the list of 100 rising stars. Amrapali was born in Mumbai but currently holds American citizenship.
Published every year, the 'Time100 Next' list “recognises 100 rising stars from across industries and around the world. What unites these individuals are their extraordinary efforts to shape our world—and define our future.”
The coveted list includes musicians, doctors, government officials, activists, big whistle-blowers and legendary CEOs.
