Reliance Group ushers in Isha Ambani as leader of retail business

Mukesh Ambani, at the company’s annual general meeting, announced his daughter's new position as leader of the group’s retail business.
Making the transition of the company’s leadership to the next generation more inevitable, the chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani, handed his daughter Isha Ambani the reins of Reliance Group's retail business. His son, Akash Ambani, was made the group's new energy business in the succession plan.
Mukesh Ambani made the announcement at the company’s 45th AGM (Annual General Meeting) on Monday.
Akash and Isha had made appearances multiple times at the company's general meetings in the past. However, they took centre stage as Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail leaders this time.
The Ambani twins (Isha and Akash) made some significant announcements at the meeting.
Taking centrestage, the billionaire’s eldest son Akash Ambani spoke about Reliance Jio 5G and said it would be a breakthrough in broadband speed while drastically lowering latency.
“We don’t get one Gbps even on many of the fixed broadband networks in our country,” he said. Revealing the name of the 5G plan, Akash said that it would be named Jio Air Fiber. He said that Jio 5G would potentially improve the lives of millions of Indians in agriculture, healthcare and education.
