The registrar at Visva Bharati University in West Bengal crawled out of his office after students gheraoed him over closure of hostels on campus. A video of the same surfaced on social media.
Students of Visva Bharati University located in Shantiniketan in West Bengal's Birbhum district staged a protest over the university hostels remaining closed on Monday afternoon.
The students gheraoed the office of the registrar, Ashish Agarwal, on Monday. On Tuesday morning, the official had to crawl out of his office to get out as the students continued to gherao his office and sloganeer there.
A video, shot in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, of the registrar crawling out of his office has gone viral on social media.
The students' demand, they said, is that the hostels be reopened so that they can stay on campus.
The registrar said he had to crawl out because he could not walk over the protesting students.
