Redmi 10 is coming to India on March 17: Here's what to expect in terms of price and features
India Today
The Redmi 10 will make its debut in India on March 17 and is expected to cost around Rs 10,000 in India. Here's everything we know so far about the device.
Xiaomi has announced that it will launch the Redmi 10 on March 17, which will be the brand’s latest budget smartphone. Ahead of the launch, Xiaomi has posted several teasers on its official site, suggesting that the specifications of the Redmi 10 could be similar to the global model that was launched a few weeks back. So, there is very little left to imagine.
The Redmi 10 is expected to cost around Rs 10,000 in India. The company has mostly launched the older versions in the same range, so the new one is also expected to fall in the same. To recall, the Redmi 9 was made available for Rs 9,499, whereas the Redmi 9 Prime is on sale for Rs 10,499.
The teasers have already shown what the device will look like. The upcoming Redmi 10 has a typical design that you expect to see in the budget segment. For this device, Xiaomi has gone for a waterdrop-style notched display, instead of the punch-hole design that we usually see on its mid-range smartphones.
It has a “massive display,” a thick chin, and a dual camera setup at the back. The company has also included the fingerprint sensor in the rear camera module. It has a textured back panel, as suggested by the teasers. Xiaomi is claiming that the Redmi 10 features a “massive battery” and it has support for fast charging. The global model has a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W charging.
While the global variant has a 12nm MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, the teasers reveal that the Redmi 10 will pack a 6nm Snapdragon chipset. Apart from offering a more power-efficient chip, it will come with “ultra fast storage.” It could be equipped with either UFS 2.1 or UFS 2.2 storage.
Surprisingly, there is a dual camera setup on the rear panel, considering the global model packs four cameras. The teaser shows that the Indian variant has a 50-megapixel primary rear camera and a depth sensor. The company skipped the 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor for the Indian model. On the software front, it could run on MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 out of the box.
