As heavy rains continue to splash Kerala, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in 10 districts of the southern state for Tuesday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in 10 districts of Kerala for Tuesday as it continues to witness heavy rainfall. The weather department has also issued a red alert for August 3 as well.
Along with this, an orange alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Kasaragod for August 2-3.
The weather department also warned of widespread and isolated heavy and very heavy rainfall in the state till August 5.
The authorities have also set up relief camps in various districts and tourist spots in high-range areas of Idukki have been closed down.
As per the PTI report, the body of a man who had gone missing a day ago in Kottayam was recovered on Tuesday morning from the Koottikkal Chappath area of the district.
The water level rose by nearly 5 metres around 2 AM on Tuesday in the Chalakudy river of Thrissur due to the heavy rains, leading to the district administration advising those living on the low-lying areas of the river's banks to move to safer places.
A holiday has been declared in several districts today.
