Ready for all options to form govt in Goa, says Congress
India Today
Congress leader Digambar Kamat accused the BJP of delaying government formation in Goa and said Congress will explore 'all options' to ensure a full-fledged government in the state.
Goa Congress has said the party is exploring 'all options' to form a government in the coastal state. Congress had won 11 and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won 20 seats in the 40-seat assembly, in the recently concluded state election.
As the BJP continues to delay attempts of government formation, Senior Congress leader Digambar Kamat said, “MLAs across party lines have approached the Congress with a request to take the lead in government formation. We appeal to BJP MLAs to use their wisdom and ensure that people are not deprived of a full-fledged government. The Congress party is open to all options to ensure that a non-BJP government is formed in Goa.”
“On the day of results, the BJP announced that they are going to form government with the support of independent candidates and other parties. Even after a week’s time, the BJP has failed to do so. BJP is buying time by giving one excuse or the other. It is unfortunate that BJP till date has not taken any steps to move ahead and form the government," he said.

Kamat also condemned the "delay tactics of the BJP” and said it appears that claims made by BJP of having 20 plus seats on their side including independent MLAs were false, malicious, and misleading.
Meanwhile, BJP lashed out at Congress over Kamat's remarks and said the grand old party had taken an appointment with the Governor even before the results were out, but were not in a position to approach the Governor.
State BJP President Sadanand Tanavde said, “BJP is a national party and we have won big in so many states and we will shortly announce the programme for Goa as well. There is no hurry and perhaps by tomorrow the picture will be clear.”
