RCMP are investigating a reported incident involving a Manitoba hockey team after a rural school division said it was made aware of hazing allegations.
The Prairie Spirit School Division in southern Manitoba said an internal investigation happened after it became aware of those allegations, but the division would not provide any additional details.
"For the sake of privacy for the students and families involved, the school divisions will not be commenting on any students' potential involvement," the Prairie Spirit division said in an emailed statement.
"We continue to work as education partners in order to best support the students and families involved. No further questions will be addressed at this time."
The division's statement did not say how many students were involved or which schools they went to, but said the nearby Prairie Rose School Division and the francophone Division Scolaire Franco-Manitobaine have also been made aware of the situation.
An RCMP spokesperson said the incident was alleged to have happened in Winnipeg, and was reported to Pembina Valley RCMP on Feb. 20 in Carman, Man. Mounties said they're still investigating and can't provide more information.
Neither police nor the school division said which team was involved, or exactly what is alleged to have happened.
