IPL 2022, RCB vs MI: Former head coach Ravi Shastri likened Suryakumar Yadav to AB de Villiers and Jos Buttler, saying the Mumbai batter's ability to play with the field is 'unreal'. Suryakumar hit a counter-attacking 68 against RCB on Saturday.
Former India head coach raved about Suryakumar Yadav's counter-punching knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Match 18 of IPL 2022, adding that the Mumbai Indians batter deserves a 'Surya Namaskar' for his exploits on Saturday.
Ravi Shastri said it was amazing to see Suryakumar lead Mumbai Indians' fight back on Saturday after RCB had them on the mat at 62/5. Suryakumara flaunted his 360-degree approach, effortlessly taking the attack to RCB bowlers as she hit 68 from just 37 balls to help the 5-time champions post a par total of 151 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. The India star hit 6 sixes and 5 boundaries as he made it look easy even as his teammates struggled to get going.
Mumbai were cruising towards a formidable total after a 50-run opening stand between captain Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. However, MI slipped from 60/1 to 62/5 as Hashal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga and Akash Deep triggered a collapse with quick wickets in the middle overs.

Suryakumar, however, did not hold back as he kept throwing the punches, helping MI score 59 runs in the last 5 overs.
Suryakumar has eased into the new season as he hit a 36-ball 52 against Kolkata Knight Riders on his comeback to the team after missing the first two matches due to injury.
"Unbelievable. He played a gem in their last game. Today (Saturday) was really special. When you are 50/0 and then 89/6 and then your team scores 71 runs in the last 5 overs with Surya doing most of the damage, you know at the end of the knock as he passes by, say 'Surya Namaskar'," Shastri told Star Sports on Saturday.
