Rashtra Kavach Om writer Raj says people wouldn't have accepted if Shah Rukh Khan starred in KGF

Raj Saluja recently said in an interview that people wouldn't have accepted KGF if it featured Shah Rukh Khan instead of Yash. Raj is the writer of Rashtra Kavach Om.
Of late, the rise and success of pan-India films have left cinegoers concerned about the fate of Bollywood movies. In the recent past, films like KGF 2, Pushpa and RRR have performed tremendously well at the box office. On the other hand, only The Kashmr Files and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 have worked in Bollywood. Considering the same, Rashtra Kavach Om writer Raj Saluja was recently asked if Bollywood is going wrong somewhere. To which, the writer mentioned that it's not about a fault in Bollywood but the audience's preference.
While sharing his thoughts on this topic, Raj added that people wouldn't have accepted KGF if it starred Shah Rukh Khan instead of Yash. As he made this statement, Saluja revealed a reason behind it.
In an interview with News18, Raj Saluja elaborated on his example as he said, "It is the audience that decides whom to accept and whom not to accept. For example, if you put, say Shah Rukh Khan in KGF, they will not accept that Shah Rukh Khan can do this. But if Yash is doing it, you are accepting it. Why? Because the pan-India audience is already accepting that the South actors can do this. "
He further mentioned, "They can do any damn thing and still we like it. We don’t have a problem. But they are not ready for Bollywood actors for doing such stuff. Because, for example, John [Abraham] was doing such great stunts in Satyamev Jayate and Attack, but still the audience did not accept him. We don’t want to accept our hero doing this but we are ready to accept Jr NTR, Ram Charan, and Yash."
Meanwhile, Raj Saluja's film, Rashtra Kavch Om was released in cinemas today (July 1). The film stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjana Sanghi. It has been directed by Kapil Verma.
