Ranji Trophy 2022: Yash Dhull became only the 3rd batter after Nari Contractor (1952/53) and Virag Awate (2012/13) to hit a hundred in each innings of his Ranji Trophy debut. Dhull finished with 226 runs for Delhi against Tamil Nadu in Guwahati.
India's U19 World Cup captain Yash Dhull on Sunday became the only 3rd batter in the history of the Ranji Trophy to hit a hundred in each innings of his debut. The Delhi opener made merry in the 2nd innings of Delhi's Elite Group H match against Tamil Nadu at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati.
Yash Dhull, who led India to U19 World Cup glory earlier in February, hit 113 in 202 balls, smashing 14 fours and a six stand remained unbeaten as Delhi posted 228 for 0 before the Group H match ended in a draw. Tamil Nadu took the first-innings lead after posting 494 in response to Delhi's first innings total of 452 in a much where the batters dominated the proceedings.
Yash Dhull's 2nd innings hundred came after he hit 113 in the first innings, which was also his maiden outing in first-class cricket. Dhull ended the drawn fixture with 226 runs, establishing his credentials as one of the most promising young batters going around.
With the twin hundreds on debut, Yash Dhull joined an elite list of batters who have scored hundreds in each innings of their Ranji Trophy debut.
