Vizianagaram celebrates Sankranti with bustling markets, rangoli competition, and spiritual activities.
Vizianagaram wore a festive look ahead of Sankranti, with almost all markets getting jam-packed with customers and textile showrooms on GT Road, Vulliveedhi and Balaji markets making brisk sales on Sunday, January 12.
Meanwhile, hundreds of women participated in the rangoli competition organised by Vaji, a television channel, at Gurjada Kalakshetram in Vizianagaram. The channel’s managing director, Ganapatineedi Srinivasa Rao, gave away prizes to the winners.
In a separate event, Adhyatmika Jnana Jyothi Mandali president Pentapati Venkata Ramanakumari organised spiritual activities in the city to enable youth to learn the importance of festivals like Bhogi and Sankranti. “Every Indian festival is aimed to improve family bonding and unity among the people,” she said.
