Ranbir Kapoor recently revealed that his uncle Randhir Kapoor is in the early stages of dementia. The actor also mentioned what his uncle asked him after watching Rishi Kapoor's last film, Sharmaji Namkeen.
Ranbir Kapoor had recently been promoting his father Rishi Kapoor's last film, Sharmaji Namkeen. In various interviews, Ranbir got emotional while remembering his late father Rishi. In one of his interviews, the Brahmastra actor happened to reveal that his uncle Randhir Kapoor is suffering from dementia. The actor also revealed what his uncle asked him about Rishi Kapoor after watching Sharmaji Namkeen.
In an interview with NDTV, Ranbir Kapoor confirmed his uncle's illness while promoting his dad's posthumous release. "My uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is going through an early stage of dementia, came to me after the film [Sharmaji Namkeen], said, ‘Tell dad that he is amazing, and where is he, let’s call him. Art crosses the boundaries of medical conditions and a good piece of storytelling really embodies that," said Ranbir.
For those unaware, Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning - thinking, remembering and reasoning. The loss of cognitive functioning goes to an extent where it starts interfering with a person's daily life and activities. It is said that some people who suffer from dementia can't control their emotions and their personalities change.
Meanwhile, several Bollywood celebrities united with Ranbir Kapoor to pay a special tribute to Rishi Kapoor. Right from Kareena Kapoor Khan, Arjun Kapoor to Tara Sutaria, Farhan Akhtar and more celebrities grooved to the tunes of Om Shanti Om, from Rishi Kapoor's film, Karz. Other Bollywood celebrities like Aamir Khan and Ananya Panday were also a part of this special tribute.
Talking about Sharmaji Namkeen, the film was released today, March 31, on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, the film also featured Juhi Chawla and Paresh Rawal.
