Ranbir Kapoor revealed neither VFX nor prosthetics worked out while trying to complete his late father Rishi Kapoor’s Sharmaji Namkeen. The actor thanked Paresh Rawal for taking up the challenge.
For Ranbir Kapoor, Sharmaji Namkeen is a very special film. It’s his late father Ranbir Kapoor’s last film, which he couldn’t complete due to shoot delays and his deteriorating health. Rishi breathed his last on April 30, 2020. In a trailer announcement video for the film, Ranbir revealed that he wanted to finish Sharmaji Namkeen using prosthetics, but nothing worked out. Then he thanked Paresh Rawal for taking up the challenge and playing the role.
Sharmaji Namkeen is all set to release on March 31 on Amazon Prime Video. The film’s trailer will release tomorrow, on March 17. In a special video, Ranbir talked about how his late father, Rishi Kapoor, believed in the film. After his death, Ranbir and the makers of Sharmaji Namkeen thought about VFX and the actor wanted to go for prosthetics to finish the film, but nothing worked out.
Ranbir said that Rishi Kapoor really wanted to complete the film even when he was sick. Then he thanked Paresh Rawal for taking up the challenge and shooting the remaining portions of Rishi’s film after his demise.
Ranbir said, “You must have heard ‘The show must go on,’ but I’ve seen Papa live his life. Sharmaji Namkeen will always be one of the fondest memories of my father. Up on screen, bringing a smile to his countless fans.”
