Ramnath Bhagavath delivers a captivating concert at the 73rd annual music festival with skilled percussion support.
Ramnath Bhagavath rendered a matured and enthralling concert on the seventh day of the 73rd annual music and arts festival at Sri Sathguru Sangeetha Samajam, with the percussion support from Vijay on the violin, Sunadakrishna on the mrudangam and Sainath on the ghatam.
Bhagavath commenced his concert through Avvaiyar’s Vinayagar Agaval “Sorpatham Kadantha” for Dikshidar’s “mahaa ganapatim”, phrasing the swaras of naattai and worshipped Ganapati.
He then rendered Dandapaani Desikar’s “ennai nee maravadhe” and ”matsi mighunda thaye,“ on Goddess Meenakshi, in amrutavarshani and hindola. He sang the ragas with its calming, devotional and meditative qualities. Both were a treat to the audience and they appreciated with an applause.
Saluting the sacred lineage of Gurus starting with Lord Sadasiva through the sloka “sadā śiva samāramabhām,” he rendered “bhajare loka gurum manuja” by Sringeri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamigal in khamas. He brought out the Sringara rasa by weaving the swarams without violating the raga bhavam.
His next rendition was “karuna nidhiye thaye” by Papanasam Sivan in bauli, which he sang in its solemn and sacred way.
This followed an exciting alapana in Gamaka Kriya with an empathic support from Vijay on the violin for Dikshitar’s “ Meenakshi Memudam “.
The tani by Sunadakrishna on the mrudangam and Sainath on the ghatam was well received.
