Ralf Rangnick to continue consultancy role at Manchester United, takes up Austria manager role

Manchester United's interim manager, who will leave his role for Erik Ten Hag, will continue his consultancy role at Old Trafford even as he has taken up the role of Austria manager.
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick will continue to work with the Old Trafford club in a consultant role, as planned even as he has been appointed as the manager of the Austria national football team. Rangnick, who will leave his top job at United for Erik Ten Hag, who was confirmed as the next Manchester United manager last week.
Ralf Rangnick was given the option of continuing at the consultant role when he arrived as interim manager after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer earlier this season.
Rangnick has signed a two-year contract with Austria, which will automatically be extended by a further two years should they qualify for the 2024 European Championship in his native Germany. This will be his first managerial role at the international level.
"He will combine the job with his consultancy role at Old Trafford as planned, after Erik ten Hag was announced as United's new manager last week," Manchester United said in a statement.
Rangnick will join Austria national team after the end of the ongoing Premier League season. He will be in charge of the national team in the UEFA Nations League as Austria take on Croatia, Denmark and France.
“I will take over as national team manager of Austria at the end of the season but will continue my consultancy with Manchester United,” Rangnick said.
“I’m really looking forward to playing my part in helping United become a real force again.
