Rajya Sabha polls: NDA bags 2 seats in Assam, 1 in Tripura; Congress gets 1 in Kerala

In the Rajya Sabha polls that were held on March 31, the NDA bagged two seats in Assam and one in Tripura while the Congress won one in Kerala.
The Rajya Sabha polls for eight seats were held on Thursday. While two seats were up for grabs from Assam, three members had to be elected from Kerala. Additionally, one Member of Parliament each from Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Tripura had to be elected.
The BJP is the single-largest party in the 245-member house. With the retirement of 72 members on Thursday, the BJP’s strength fell from 97 to 92 and that of the Congress from 34 to 28.
Assam
In Assam, the BJP’s Pabitra Margherita and its ally United People's Party Liberal’s (UPPL) Rwngwra Narzary won the two seats.
The Congress’ Ripun Bora was defeated.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Assam has reposed its faith in PM Sri @narendramodi ji by electing two NDA candidates to the Rajya Sabha by huge margins - BJP's Sri Pabitra Margherita (won by 11 votes) and UPPL's Sri Rwngwra Narzary (won by 9 votes). My compliments to winners.”
