Some Rajasthan BJP MLAs are yet to return iPhones gifted by the Gehlot government during the state Budget day on February 23.
Despite an order issued by Rajasthan BJP chief asking party MLAs to return the iPhones gifted by Ashok Gehlotled Congress government, several MLAs are yet to return the expensive handsets.
As per information, many MLAs had even started using the iPhones that they had received from the state government.
When India Today spoke with the state BJP chief, Dr. Satish Poonia, admitted that several of the party MLAs were yet to return the iPhones gifted by the state government on Budget day.
However, he claimed the reason was that several of the MLAs had gone to their constituencies and that they would return the iPhones when they returned to Jaipur.
"No one is (defying) and this was not in a way a dictator's decision, because it was a decision as per our collective understanding and we people had decided amongst ourselves. Sixty of the 71 MLAs were part of the decision. Remaining people had not attended. Of those present, 50 people have returned and the remaining 10 people are left. They will return from their constituencies on March 2 and 3. Everyone will deposit (the iPhones)," Poonia told India Today.
Senior BJP leaders including Poonia, Leader of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria, former CM Vasundhara Raje have returned the iPhones.
