Raipur: Drunk man jumps from hospital skywalk, sustains injuries

A drunk man jumped off a partially constructed skywalk near Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur and sustained injuries in the incident. The team of fire brigade and police reached the spot to save the man.
A man jumped off a partially constructed skywalk in an inebriated state in Raipur on Tuesday and sustained injuries in the incident.
The man who has been identified as Sujit Kumar, a native of Satna in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, sustained injuries to his waist and was shifted to a hospital, an official said.
He climbed up the skywalk in a drunken state and started threatening the authorities that he would jump.
He was being treated for a mental illness in 2003 and is also epileptic. Kumar was shifted to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (DBRAMH) after he had a seizure attack.
As per the report by PTI, an official revealed, "He created chaos in the hospital by asking for his luggage and certificates. Subsequently, he ran out of the hospital and climbed the partially constructed skywalk in front of the facility and started shouting."
After hearing about the incident, MLA Kuldeep Juneja reached the spot and tried to pacify the man, along with the police personnel.
Teams from the fire brigade and police rushed to the spot, and some public representatives of the area also arrived there, an official revealed.
