Rainfall intensity to decrease in next two days in Chennai, says IMD

The India Meteorological department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in Chennai and its suburbs for the next 48 hours.
With heavy rains continuing to lash Tamil Nadu and parts of Chennai, the India Meteorological department (IMD) has warned of heavy rainfall in the state, Puducherry and Karaikal till Sunday. As heavy rains and strong winds lashed several parts of Chennai and its suburbs, three people lost their lives and normal life was thrown out of gear. Several roads such as Mount Road and Poonamallee Road were waterlogged and massive traffic snarls were witnessed in the city due to unprecedented rainfall. However, in a big relief to the residents, in its latest weather bulletin, the IMD has said that the rain intensity may reduce in the next two days in the city. The weathermen said the city and suburbs may receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms with the skies remaining partly cloudy. There will be a significant reduction in the rainfall activity on Sunday over the southern peninsula and the weather will be almost clear by Monday, The Times of India (TOI) revealed in its report.
