Rain hits life in Maharashtra's Pune; IMD issues Yellow Alert in parts of Odisha, Kerala

Heavy rains battered parts of Odisha and Maharashtra. The IMD issued Yellow Alert in Odisha, and authorities have been directed to stay vigilant and prepared.
Maharashtra's Pune district received incessant rainfall for over three hours on Sunday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) rain gauge in the Shivaji Nagar area witnessed 16 mm of rainfall within the span of an hour.
Pune's Bibwewadi area recorded 83 mm of rain in a couple of hours, which was recorded on a private rain gauge. The city's lower areas and JM road locations have severe waterlogging. The Flame Campus as well as the Oxford Golf Course area witnessed flash floods in less than an hour's time, as per the weather bulletin.

Other parts of Maharashtra were battered by heavy rains and thunderstorms in isolated areas.
Also, the Regional Meteorological Department shared, "Possibility of intense spells of rainfall at isolated places in Amravati, Wardha, Chandrapur and Yavatmal District of Vidarbha."

Depression over Odisha has triggered a moisture incursion, also in Maharashtra and other adjoining states. The moisture incursion has caused thunderstorms and heavy rains in parts of Maharashtra. On Sunday, the IMD issued a Yellow Alert across the state and alerted a depression over the south Odisha area and adjoining southeast of Bhawanipatna.
