Rahul Gandhi welcomed in Karnataka as Bharat Jodo Yatra enters first BJP-ruled state

Karnataka Congress leaders, including former chief minister Siddaramaiah, welcomed Rahul Gandhi and the party's Bharat Jodo Yatra as it enters its first BJP-ruled state.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was given a warm welcome on Friday by party leaders including former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as the Bharat Jodo Yatra reached the state border. The yatra is entering its first BJP-ruled state on its 23rd day.
Ahead of the yatra’s arrival in the state, several posters of Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders were torn in the state. More than 40 posters put up to welcome the yatra were torn.

The yatra plays a vital role for Karnataka Congress, whose members have been working for days to welcome Rahul Gandhi and the yatra. According to political analyst Sandeep Shastri, the yatra is the Congress’s movement to reassert its presence nationally and in Karnataka.
The yatra is vital for Karnataka as it will help cement Congress’s reputation as a formidable Opposition. The yatra is also an opportunity for Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar to prove their mettle to Rahul Gandhi.
The state Congress constituted 18 committees to manage the yatra. Congress state president DK Shivakumar also asked all party MLAs to mobilise 5,000 people from each constituency for the yatra.
