Former Australia spinner Shane Warne said Rahul Dravid will bring in a lot of tactical inputs to India cricket team and his appointment as head coach is a big positive.
Legendary Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne said Rahul Dravid's appointment as head coach is only going to add to the riches of Indian cricket and the former India captain will bring in a lot of "steel and toughness" to the team.
Speaking to the Press Trust of India, Warne said Dravid will add to the tactical side of things that will help the senior national team to build on their success.
Dravid took over as India's head coach after Ravi Shastri's tenure came to an end following the T20 World Cup last year. Under Dravid, India won a T20I series against New Zealand at home but his first overseas tour as the in-charge of the Indian team ended in disappointment as India lost both the Test and the ODI series earlier this month in South Africa.
"Rahul Dravid will bring in a lot to the table. Terrific cricketer, great person. I think he will bring in a lot of steel, lot of toughness to the group," Warne said.
"I think he will bring in a lot of tactical stuff that will be good. Rahul is fantastic for Indian cricket," he added.
However, Warne said he doesn't like the concept of 'coach' in international cricket and rather would like the person-in-charge to be called as 'manager'.
"The coach, it is the terminology which I don't like in international cricket. In domestic cricket, the coaches are really important, but in international cricket, he should be called a manager not a coach," Warne said.
