Rahim Uchil removed as chairman of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy

Rahim Uchil had taken charge as chairman of the academy on October 16, 2019 for a period of three years
Karnataka Government has cancelled the appointment of Rahim Uchil as chairman of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy based in Mangaluru.
A notification issued on April 5 said that his appointment has been cancelled with immediate effect. It did not mention any reason for removing him.
Mr. Uchil had taken charge as chairman of the academy on October 16, 2019 for a period of three years. He had served as chairman of the academy earlier from February 6, 2012 to July 3, 2013.
Earlier, Mr. Uchil had served as general secretary of the Dakshina Kannada unit of the BJP’s Minority Morcha. He was one of the members of Dakshina Kannada District Wakf Advisory Council.
In March 2012, he had been severely injured when two masked men attacked him with sharp weapons in his office in Mangaluru. He had recovered from the injuries.
