Raashii Khanna addressed the 'fabricated and misconstrued' content circulating on social media about her ‘bad-mouthing South films’ on Instagram. The actress said she has utmost respect towards every film she does.
Raashii Khanna, who is an established South actress, recently signed many projects in Bollywood. She also talked about the difference in the two industries in a couple of interviews. Now, the actress has claimed that some ‘fabricated and misconstrued’ are doing the rounds on social media and pleaded everyone to stop circulating them.
Raashii Khanna was recently seen in the thriller series, Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, with Ajay Devgn. She had talked about the opportunity to play a villainous role in it, something she hadn’t done in the past and how the Southern film industry objectifies women. So, some stories on social media suggested that she was bad-mouthing South films.
Clearing the air, Raashi shared an Instagram story which read, “Some fabricated and misconstrued content about me bad mouthing south films is doing the rounds on social media. I request whoever has been doing it to PLEASE STOP. I have utmost respect towards each and every language/film that I do. Let's be kind (sic).”
In an interview with a leading daily, Raashii Khanna had talked about her experience of working in South films. She said, "They don’t want to see beyond the looks, that’s what I was facing in the South where people were not taking me seriously as an actor. While I think things have changed a little after Rudra, it will definitely change after my upcoming projects, which I think is only a good thing for me."
On sexism in South films, the actress had said, “In the South, they will label you as ‘lady’, ‘lass’, ‘milky beauty’ and it will only stop if you fight back. Half of the time it comes out because of the love fans have for you, but basic objectification is the problem. They think a woman is to objectify. They don’t understand between admiring a woman and objectifying because the problem is at the education level, what we teach them as kids. If women are not educated, they will think all this is right. Then when they see the objectification, they think, ‘Okay, isme kya galat hai. I love this woman actor, so I call her milky beauty’. But women are so much more than just objectifying that they don’t want to see.”
Raashii Khanna now has a web series with Shahid Kapoor being helmed by Raj and DK, and Yodha with Sidharth Malhotra and Disha Patani lined up.
