QRCS Participates in 9th Medical Conference at IUG

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) participated in the 9th medical Conference of the Faculty of Medicine at the Islamic University of Gaza (IUG), entitled "Conference on Medical Education in Palestine - A Holistic Approach." In a working paper presented at one of the conference sessions, head of QRCS's representation office in Gaza Dr. Akram Nassar reviewed the results of the specialized medical grants program for Palestinian doctors, which has been supported by the Qatari Red Crescent since 2003. He explained that the QRCS adopts this program for its clear contribution to building the capabilities of local medical staff, improving the quality of health services provided to patients, in addition to reducing the need to treat patients outside the Gaza Strip, by providing quality medical services inside the Strip, noting that the program benefited 81 Doctors from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank received their studies in the State of Qatar, while 31 doctors benefited from the study in Jordan, and 28 of them have already returned to work in the hospitals of the Strip after completing their specialized training. The conference touched on the medical successes achieved by the doctors benefiting from the program, and pointed out that the QRCS continues to implement its projects and health interventions that will alleviate the difficult conditions experienced by the residents of Gaza, and ensure their access to high-quality health services. The specialized medical grants program for Palestinian doctors includes studies in about 20 medical and surgical disciplines, focusing on the most needy specialties in beneficiary areas with shortages of hospitals under the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The program qualifies its graduates to obtain the accreditation of the Arab Board for Health Specializations (ABHS).
