Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) announced the achievements of its talented apprentices, Abdulla Al Mansoori and Mohammed Alabdulmalik, during their recent stint at the prestigious South African Jockey Academy.
Abdulla Al Mansoori, who arrived in South Africa in May 2024, made his South African racing debut on 22nd May at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse. It was followed by a remarkable victory at his second race meeting at Fairview Racecourse in Port Elizabeth, riding First Origin, trained by Gavin Smith, Abdulla secured his first win, setting the stage for an impressive season.
Throughout his stay, Abdulla traveled and rode at all the racing centres in South Africa. He had 27 rides and on several occasions was so close to increasing the number of his wins, as he finished placed in seven races– a testament to his hard work and commitment.
Mohammed Alabdulmalik, who joined the South African Jockey Academy in late June, quickly made his presence felt. His inaugural race on June 26 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse resulted in a thrilling victory astride Drive By, trained by Louis Goosen.
