Qatar Airways Delhi-Doha flight diverted to Karachi after smoke detected in cargo hold

The Qatar Airways flight (QR579) was diverted to Karachi after declaring an emergency due to indications of smoke in the cargo.

A Qatar Airways Delhi-Doha flight was diverted to Karachi after declaring an emergency due to signs of smoke in the cargo hold on Monday.

The aircraft landed safely at Karachi where it was met by emergency services and passengers were disembarked.

"The incident is currently under investigation and a relief flight is being arranged to transport passengers onwards to Doha. We apologise for the inconvenience to our passengers who will be assisted with their onward travel plans," Qatar Airways said in a statement.
