The situation in Ukraine has worsened ever since Russian president Vladimir Putin declared war on the country. Thousands of people lost their homes and were injured during the incessant shelling by the Russian army. However, a small hopeful story has literally emerged from the rubble of a bombed city in Ukraine and it is enough to instill hope.
Shared on Twitter by Anton Gerashchenko, the Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the video shows firefighters rescuing a puppy buried in the rubble of the bombed city of Donbas. The clip goes on to show the men digging up the area to rescue the puppy.
The recording has a happy ending as the rescued animal was handed to its owner, who also escaped severe injuries from the bombing.
“A village on Donbas was shelled by Russia and a puppy was under the debris. Rescuers were able to save him and give him back to the owner (who himself narrowly escaped death from shelling). Rescue services work 24/7 doing the hardest work and saving lives,” read the caption.
