The opposition in Punjab called the government's procurement of Covid-19 kits in three tenders a scam. The Punjab government, however, refuted the charges and said it will reply to the petition in court.
The Punjab government has sparked a couple of fresh controversies over the sale and purchase of Covid essentials. After a row over selling Covid-19 vaccines to private hospitals, the government has now ignited a statewide debate over the purchase of Covid-19 kits (Fateh kits). The opposition has alleged that this is a scam as the government frequently revised the tendering process and purchased the kits at a higher price. The state government had floated three tenders within a month to procure over 2,16,668 Covid kits on three different rates by spending over Rs 20 crore.
