The Punjab Congress delegation met with Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Wednesday and demanded that a central agency investigate the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala.
A delegation of the Punjab Congress led by its president, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, met with Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Wednesday and apprised him of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
The delegation comprised of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Partap Singh Bajwa, working president Bharat Bhushan Ashu, deputy CLP leader Dr Rajkumar Chabbewal, former deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and former minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.
The delegation demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conduct an investigation into the murder of the singer.
Meanwhile, hitting out at the state government over the law and order situation, the delegation said, "AAP got a public mandate but they have proved to be a complete failure. The recent broad daylight assassination of an internationally acclaimed Punjabi singer, Shubhdeep Singh Sudhu Moose Wala, is a warning call for all of us. It was not a routine murder, but a well-conceived conspiracy executed so daringly that the assailants had no fear of the law. It was an ambush done with such audacity."
"Even after three days of the assassination, the police have no clue. They are only latching onto the "confessions" made by some people on social media," the delegation added.
The delegation further told the governor that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been a complete disaster.
"Moreover, he [Bhagwant Mann] is either callous or incompetent to understand the gravity of the situation and the tragedy. He did not have the courtesy to pay a condolence visit to the bereaved parents whose only son fell victim to the bullets of assassins as his security had not only been withdrawn, but also a public spectacle made of it for cheap populism," it added.
