The Pune traffic police have decided to shut down 23 autorickshaw stands in the city as a security point of view and to control the traffic.
In a move by the Pune traffic police to strengthen the security within the city bounds and also to ease the frequent gridlock on the city roads, it has decided to shut down 23 auto rickshaw stands and has fined over 17,000 auto-rickshaw drivers for violating various traffic norms over a period of two months.
Speaking on the action taken by the authorities, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Shriram told the Indian Express that the primary reason for shutting down as many as 23 auto stands has been the frequent traffic jams which have been occurring frequently on a particular road because of them and also because these auto stands were unsafe.
