
Pune: Highest December rain recorded on Thursday; lowest maximum temperature in 25 years

As per the report by the Pune division of IMD, the city recorded a rainfall of 76.5mm, which is the highest in the month of December since 1996.
With the onset of a cold breeze setting up for a chilly season ahead, Punekars were greeted with drizzling and heavy fog around most parts of the city. Rainfall which began as light drizzle in the early hours of the day changed into heavy downpours by 6 am in the evening, continuing until late at night on Thursday.
As per the report by the Times of India (TOI), the downpour, as recorded by the Pashan Observatory, Pune division of the Indian Meteorological Department, was the highest for the city at 76.5mm in the month of December since 1996. The previously highest recorded rainfall in December for Pune was 53.1mm on December 13, 2014.
