The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea seeking steps to control religious conversions saying there is no reason why a person above the age of 18 years cannot choose the religion they want to follow. The Supreme Court has also refused permission to allow the petitioner to make a representation to the law commission. Justice RF Nariman said during the hearing, "No we cannot grant you this permission" and added, "There is a reason why the word propagate is there in the Constitution." The PIL sought a bar on religious conversion and black magic. The court called the PIL a "publicity interest litigation".More Related News
