Provincial police release new details in recent northern Ont. shooting death

Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate a shooting death in West Nipissing that occurred Wednesday.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service continue to investigate a shooting death in West Nipissing that occurred Wednesday.
In a news release Saturday, OPP identified the victim as 53-year-old Joseph Genereux, a local of the community.
Police previously said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old local man has been charged with second-degree murder along with unauthorized possession of a firearm and knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in North Bay on April 12.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
