
Protect 'shivling', don’t affect namaz: Supreme Court in Gyanvapi case

The Supreme Court has ordered local authorities to protect the shivling that was apparently found in the Gyanvapi Mosque complex in Varanasi without affecting the right of Muslims to offer prayer.
The Supreme Court adjourned its hearing in the Gyanvapi Mosque case till Thursday, after ordering the district magistrate to ensure the shivling that was apparently found in the complex is protected without affecting the right of Muslims to offer prayer.
"If there is a shivling, we say the district magistrate will ensure that the shivling is protected without affecting right of Muslims to offer prayer," the Supreme Court said.
