Prophet row: Prayagraj violence accused to move high court over house demolition

Mohammed Javed, the main accused in the Prayagraj protests, will move the high court over the alleged illegal demolition of his house by Uttar Pradesh government.
Advocate KK Rai, representing Prayagraj violence accused Mohammed Javed, said they will file a petition against the 'illegal demolition' carried out by the Uttar Pradesh government.
The state government, which named Javed as the main accused in the Friday protests against remarks on Prophet Muhammad, razed down his house on Sunday evening. Javed was arrested and booked under the Gangster Act.
"Mohammad Javed is not only my client, he is my very old friend and he has always worked for the peace of this city. The police administration has illegally demolished the house registered in the name of his wife," the advocate said.

"Prayagraj Development Authority never gave prior notice. Made the entire family homeless," he added.
The notice that was served on Sunday morning stated that the property has illegal structures which were constructed without taking the requisite permits and hence, in violation of several building and planning regulations.
However, PDA stated that Javed had failed to respond to the show-cause notice sent on May 5, 2022, and had not vacated the building, as ordered in another notice issued on June 9.
