Royal Challengers Bangalore keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik made a comeback to the Indian team after three years on the back of an exceptional indian Premier League campaign.
Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Dinesh Karthik was selected in India's T20I series against South Africa, scheduled to be later this month. The India call-up, which will see Karthik donning the India colours three years after his last game saw big cheer from his section of fans in the social media.
Karthik, who has been in a dream run in the current edition of the Indian Premier League has scored 287 runs as a finisher this season, at a strike rate of 191.
Karthik's IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, uploaded a video on their social media account where Karthik can be seen talking about the national call-up.
"Very happy, very, very satisfying must say that this has been probably my most special comeback, because a lot of people had given up on me," Karthik told RCB in an interview with Danish Sait.
"For me to come back and do what I did, practise the way I did with my coach (Abhishek) Nayar, things that have happened in the lead-up to the auction, and how I practised post that a lot of credit also to (RCB head coach) Sanjay Bangar and (RCB director of cricket operations) Mike Hesson, I think the clarity that they gave me to execute the role that I wanted to do, in many ways (I'm) indebted to RCB for picking me and giving me that role, believing in me and then me coming out here and trying to do my best for this team RCB. All in all, a very happy feeling I am very excited overall."
