Pritish Nandy death: Hansal Mehta, Anupam Kher, Sudhir Mishra, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt pay tributes to veteran producer

Bollywood celebrities mourned the death of veteran poet, producer, and journalist Pritish Nandy, remembering his impact on the industry
Bollywood actors and directors paid tributes to veteran poet, producer, writer and journalist Pritish Nandy, who passed away at 73 in Mumbai on January 08, 2025 (Wednesday). Kushan Nandy, son of Pritish Nandy, confirmed the death of the well-known film producer.
Director Sudhir Mishra, whose highly-acclaimed film Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi (2003)thanked Nandy for changing his life. “He taught me so much. Only he could do ‘Hazaaron Khwahishen Aisi’. Sorry Pritish da, I couldn’t come up with an idea for the sequel,”he wrote on X.
Nandy and his daughter Rangita Nandy had produced Kareena Kapoor’s Chameli, the 2004 film directed by Mishra. Kareena posted pictures of her with Nandy from the sets of the movie.
Director Hansal Mehta of Scam 1992 (2020)and Shahid (2012) fame said Nandy gave him the confidence to make Omerta. “When nobody had belief in me or my ideas, Mr Pritish Nandy gave me the strength to dare, to dream and to tell stories that mattered to me - no matter what,” he wrote on X.
While Sanjay Dutt called him a “true” creative genius, Anil Kapoor remembered him as “fearless editor”. “ I’ll always miss his presence, his voice, and the fearless spirit he brought to everything he did. He embodied integrity like no other,” wrote Kapoor on X.
Actor Anupam Kher condoled Nandy’s demise in a post on X, calling him a ‘fearless’ artist and a source of strength during his struggling years. Nandy is survived by his wife, Rina, and children Kushan, Ishita and Rangita.
Blaming the Andhra Pradesh government for the stampede at a Vaikunta Dwara Darshan token counter at Tirupati which claimed six lives on January 8, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Gudivada Amarnath on January 9 asked why did the authorities concerned failed to make adequate arrangements for the heavy influx of pilgrims for the festival.
