Composer Pritam Chakraborty has now reacted to KK's death. He said that KK led a very disciplined and stress-free life.
Composer Pritam Chakraborty has worked on a number of projects with KK, who passed away on May 31. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Pritam expressed his shock and disbelief at the popular singer's sudden death. He said that KK led a very disciplined and stress-free life. For the uninitiated, KK passed away at the age of 53 after giving a performance at Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata on Tuesday. He later went to his hotel where he fell ill. He was brought to a hospital where he was declared dead.
In a conversation with India Today, Pritam Chakraborty said, "I am not able to believe it. I can't tell you how shocked I am. I am just not able to process it. Our last meeting was six months ago. Now it has become our last song together when we met in the studio during the recording that time. KK and I never spoke on phone much. We both started our careers almost around the same time. Those days, I used to make KK sing all my singles. I remember reciting Alvida to him at Galaxy studio. I told him, 'You will only sing this song whatever film I record it for'."
He added, "I can't believe the news of his death. He was one of the healthiest human beings. Whenever he saw me, he used to say 'Dada, you live such an unhealthy life, you sleep in the morning. this is not right.' As far as I know, he did not have any health issues. He neither used to drink nor had the habit of smoking. He was a complete family man. He used to take holidays, spend time with family. He never took stress in life. He led a very disciplined life. KK used to get regular body checkups and ECG done. He must have got his body scanning done too. I do not understand even if there was a blockage in the heart, how was it not caught."
At last, Pritam Chakraborty said, "KK might not have got his due, but it is difficult to describe the kind of love he has received. The love he got was pure. I can say with certainty that there is not a single person the industry who would say that KK was not a good man. His smile used to win everyone's heart. It started with Wajid, who died at a young age. Then we have people like Bappi Da, Lata Mangeshkar, Shravan ji. I can't sleep."
KK was one of the most versatile singers in the Indian film industry. He has sung superhit numbers in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali, among others. KK reportedly suffered a heart attack. The playback singer collapsed after the concert and was rushed to a private hospital in the city. He was "brought dead" to Kolkata's CMRI Hospital around 10 pm, hospital authorities told India Today TV. KK is survived by his wife and children. The Kolkata Police has now registered an unnatural death case over his death. The case was registered at the New Market police station. According to police sources, his face and head bore injuries. The autopsy would be conducted at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday to ascertain the cause of death. The police will check the CCTV footage at Grand Hotel and talk to the hotel staff and the event organisers.
